Introduction

Carboxytherapy is a relatively new rejuvenation treatment that has been clinically proven to restore the skin’s collagen and elastin properties.  Such characteristics have made the treatment efficient for improving blood circulation and diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The encouragement of long-term collagen repair along with the elimination of fatty deposits allow for a brightening and firming of the skin, while refraining from any invasive procedure. Since the therapy targets the deep dermal layers of the skin, the elimination of cellulite and stretch marks also become possible and effective.

Can I do it?

Unlike certain laser and light treatments, carboxytherapy is safe for patients with darker skin tones alongside their lighter counterparts. Additionally, carboxytherapy is a harmless alternative for those hesitant to receive Botox injections. Not only is the therapy non-invasive, it can produce the same lifting and rejuvenating results without the potential adverse side-effects of Botox.

How does it work?

Carboxytherapy involves administering minute amounts of carbon dioxide into the damaged dermal layer of the skin to stimulate collagen production while destroying fatty deposits. The introduction of carbon dioxide causes blood vessels to dilate, increasing overall blood circulation. The synergy of increasing collagen and circulation allow for subsequently thicker skin and the visible improvement of stretch marks. Carbon dioxide also carries a toxic property when directly injected into fatty deposits, eliminating adipocytes or fat cells in the process. The debris of liquefied adipocytes is soon cleared by the natural processes of the lymph system.

Pain

Carboxytherapy is relatively painless when treating stretch marks and scars, due to the inability of those areas to sense pain. However a slight pressure or itching sensation may be felt for a few minutes as the gas is being absorbed by the body. The treated area may continue to have warm and tingly sensations for up to 24 hours as blood circulation becomes improved.

Time

Each treatment session can last between 10-50 minutes depending upon the area of treatment.

Safety

There are no known risks associated with the treatment beyond temporary bruising.  However eyelid procedures can be done without leaving any marks.

Result

Eliminating cellulite and stretch marks require 6-10 sessions depending upon the severity of the condition. The continual reconstruction of the collagen matrix and subcutaneous tissue will require those sessions to be scheduled regularly for best results. However your skin will look and feel visible firmer with increased luminosity after only a few sessions. Generally the results of carboxytherapy can last up to 6 months, but a healthy diet and exercise regimen can allow the results to last for years.
