Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) includes surgery of the upper and/or lower lids. This surgery is often combined with other facial procedures, and is used to brighten and improve the appearance of tired or baggy appearing eyes.
The Asian Eyelid differs greatly in both appearance and anatomy from the Western eyelid. Furthermore, there is great variability in appearance of the upper eyelid among people of Asian heritage. At first glance, the upper eyelid either has a prominent upper lid crease (or fold) commonly known as a double eyelid or it does not, a single eyelid. However, on closer examination there is actually a high degree of variability even among people with a double eyelid. The crease itself can be located at different distances from the eyelash line anging from 1-2 mm in some Asians to as high as 10 mm in some Caucasians.
There are two major methods to create a double eyelid. The method that doctors at Dr.Midas prefer is non-incisional. The non-incisional method is a minimally invasive technique that avoids many of the problems of large incisions. It has been tested in the United States and is widely used in Asia. The doctors can artistically create a lid crease at the location that was decided during the pre-operative consultation. The entire non-incisional procedure can be done through 2-3 small needle holes strategically placed in the upper lid. These small holes heal extremely easily and are almost never visible even with close examination after a few weeks. This particular method tends to have a much faster recovery time with minimal swelling and bruising, although there can be some bruising in a few patients. There is no large upper lid scar. Procedure generally takes less than 1 hour and can be done without general anesthesia if the patient prefers which greatly reduces the costs and recovery time to the patient.
The second method is the full incisional method the traditional way in which the surgeon creates a lid crease using a technique similar to Western blepharoplasty (eyelift). This is the method used by many plastic surgeons in the United States, as it is not very different from their experience doing Western eyelifts. An advantage is that in older patients, excess skin and fat can be removed treating a more youthful appearance. The downside is that there is a scar across the full width of the eyelid that can be noticeable particularly in young patients. Additionally, the invasive nature of this procedure can lead to more down-time from swelling and bruising that can last for two weeks (in rare cases longer). Doctors at Dr.Midas generally only use this technique if the patient also wants and needs a more youthful appearing eye.
Fat grafts, also known as fat transfers, are suitable for patients who wish to permanently correct wrinkled or sunken areas on the face to improve contour. The procedure transfers fat from areas of excess fat to areas where patients desire more volume. Fat grafts are safe and long-lasting, and provide natural-looking results without the use of very invasive techniques..... more
Facelift & Necklift
Facelift and Necklift surgery addresses the drooping of the cheeks, jawline and neck. This surgery rejuvenates the facial appearance through hidden incisions behind the ears or occasionally a small incision underneath the chin. At iOne Medical Group Inc., our goal is to provide a more younger and natural appearance. In some patients, only a mini-facelift accomplishes this result, while those with more severe aging often need careful contouring of the deeper tissues and a gentle re-draping of the skin.
Browlift is a general term which refers to surgical rejuvenation of the forehead and eyebrows. Different techniques can be used to alter the position of the eyebrows, or adjust the height of the forehead and hairline. A browlift can also improve skin laxity of the upper lids..... more
Rhinoplasty surgery is more popularly known as "nose job" or "nose reshaping". It very accurately describes - rhinoplasty (nose cosmetic surgery) is a medical procedure for reconstructive or cosmetic nose reshaping. It is usually used as a name for nose cosmetic surgery.
Nose job is sculpting. It is an art in some way. It is meant to improve the appearance and proportions of nose to the whole face, though combined with other procedures it might increase the functionality of nose as well (it then would be proper to be called as nose plastic surgery). It might improve breathing functions through both nostrils if needed.
Nose plastic surgeons can increase or reduce the size of whole nose. They can accurately:
Even changing the angle between the tip and upper lip is not occasional. Nose reshaping can also correct defects from birth. Rhinoplasty is performed for both men and women. Competent plastic surgeons will not recommend or even allow girls less than 15 years and boys under 17 years old to undergo Rhinoplasty. This is due to maturity of the nose as it might alter the nose as it fully matures in the later years. It is recommended younger ones use nose makeup until plastic surgery is allowed.
There are two methods surgeons use. Open technique which is simpler, surgeon will make a visible incision near the base of the nose. Silicone is then placed on top of the bridge of the nose and reshaped cartilage is placed before closing. Cartilage can be harvested from either behind the ear or from the rib..... more
Facial implants can be inserted to improve the physical appearance of the face. Specially formed materials that can be safely integrated with human tissues are used to correct undesirable facial features. The specific type and size of the implant is determined by the surgeon as well what kind of correction you wish to pursue. Although any part of the face can be augmented, the cheek, chin and jaw are the most common sites for facial implants. Facial implants can increase definition and restore proportion to the face structure with natural-looking results..... more
One of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures, liposuction sculpts the body by removing undesirable fat from areas such as the abdomen, waist, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, chin, cheeks, neck and upper arms that have not responded to diet and exercise. Local anesthesia or general anesthesia may be used and the procedure can last anywhere from one to five hours depending on the amount of fat being removed. There are several different methods the doctors at iOne use when performing liposuction, including tumescent liposuction and ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL). In all types, a tiny incision is made in an inconspicuous location, and an anesthetic solution is put into the fatty tissue. An ultrasound treatment is then given to soften the fatty layer and break up the tissues. Then a small cannula is inserted through the same tiny incision into the fat layer and suctions out the fat.
Recovery from liposuction is relatively quick and most patients feel up to returning to light duty within 2-7 days..... more
A "Tummy Tuck" or Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to flatten a protruding abdomen by tightening the muscles in the abdominal wall and removing any excess fatty tissue and skin. Many men and women have successfully undergone this procedure to help improve their self esteem. But it is important that you have realistic expectations when having any surgery and understand your probable outcome.
The best candidates for this procedure are those whose weight has been stabilized after their weight loss program or those who feel they are at their ideal weight. Sometimes, the tummy tuck is combined with other cosmetic procedures like breast augmentation and liposuction. The tummy tuck is usually performed in conjunction with liposuction of the upper abdomen and flanks. An incision is made in the bikini area and sometimes an incision up to the belly button. Excess skin and fat will removed through this incision. The area will then be sutured or stapled.
After the procedure, it is important that the patient have bed rest. Most patients are back to work in 1-2 weeks, depending on the degree of the surgery. Results can be dramatic and patients love their new figure!.... more
